Lesson 30

Knowing most of the people who heard his message would not follow it and that only a few would be called by God to follow him, Jesus urged everyone to live a good life with a foundation of Godly love. The love they developed during their lives then, will help them to decide to follow God when it is their time to do so. Ultimately, love will be the only gift that will be needed in the Kingdom of Heaven, all the others will become redundant. When you are living in the Kingdom, there will be no need to prophesy about its coming. Jesus saved his comprehensive instructions for his close followers only, knowing they would become the saints who would be ruling with him when he returned to the earth. Only those called by God will rule with Jesus and establish his worldwide Kingdom. Being led by and relying on the Holy Spirit to guide them, those saints will have to build and prove their caricature against Satan’s influence daily. Both messages Jesus taught blend together as those who were called by God to follow Jesus needed the message of love and how to live out that love in their lives. When they fall, Jesus is swift to answer their plea for forgiveness, welcoming them back with the washing of his blood. For them, their time of testing is during this life, they need to get it right, as it is a matter of life or death. How urgently do you pursue your salvation? Do we have to repent to have our sins forgiven? How often do you repent of your sins? What is the difference between wilful and inadvertent sin?

Hebrews 9:14 Amplified Bible
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [Holy] Spirit willingly offered Himself unblemished [that is, without moral or spiritual imperfection as a sacrifice] to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the ever living God?

1 John 1:7-9 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition
7 But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.

2 Corinthians 6:2 New Life Version
2 The Holy Writings say, “I heard you at the right time. I helped you on that day to be saved from the punishment of sin. Now is the right time! See! Now is the day to be saved.”

Hebrews 10:26-27 International Children’s Bible
26 If we decide to go on sinning after we have learned the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins. 27 There is nothing but fear in waiting for the judgment and the angry fire that will destroy all those who live against God.
