Lesson 20

At the second return of Jesus the Beast and False Prophet are thrown into the lake of fire. It’s into that lake he now banishes Satan, putting an end to his reign of deceit. Being mortal humans, the Beast and False Prophet would have died in the flames of this lake and what’s left of them will still be there. Unlike them, Satan is immortal. As a result, his torment will last for the rest of eternity. Satan needs no resurrection as he will never die. In fact, being immortal he can never die, even if he wanted to. He will have to live with the consequences of his decisions, being tortured day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 20:10 GOD’S WORD Translation
10 The devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet were also thrown. They will be tortured day and night forever and ever.

Some people think being born immortal is preferable to being the mortal humans God created them as. The fact mortals can die, makes them better off than Satan. Rejecting God, he will suffer for the rest of eternity. Humans that reject God will be put out of their misery and will die. Life and death are opposites. You can not be both at the same time. If humans were immortal they would be in the same boat as Satan, unable to die even if they desire to. The Bible tells us the soul (person), that sins will die.

Ezekiel 18:20…24 King James Version
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. 24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

It’s not about what you have done in the past, as that can be forgiven, but who you are at the end is what counts. We need to run our races to a good finish. In what ways have you been changing for the better? Which way did Satan change? Give supporting Scripture for your beliefs. The next time Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.
