Lesson 17

The feast of Booths encompasses the representation of the rest of the future events that take place from when Jesus begins his rule, until he hands everything back to his father and God comes to dwell with mankind. This thousand year period begins after Jesus deposes all other authorities and chains Satan into the bottomless pit, where Satan stays until after the first thousand years is over. After all the wars and pollution, it will take a thousand years to heal the earth so it can bountifully sustain human life again. Those who survive the battle when Jesus returns, will live during this thousand years and thrive as they rebuild the earth and a Godly society. They will be the first generations of humans to not live with the influence of Satan being broadcast at them. Even though these people will be ruled by Jesus and his saints in a Godly kingdom, some will still rebell and want to go their own way, but the laws of God will prevail in His kingdom. Those who rebel will be disciplined by Jesus.

Revelation 20:1-3 King James Version
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Zechariah 14:16-19 International Children’s Bible
16 Some of the people who came to fight Jerusalem will be left alive. They will come back to Jerusalem year after year. They will come to worship the King, the Lord of heaven’s armies. They will celebrate the Feast of Shelters. 17 Some people from the nations might not go to Jerusalem. They might not worship the King, the Lord of heaven’s armies. Then rain will not fall on their land. 18 The Egyptians might not go to Jerusalem. They might not celebrate the Feast of Shelters. Then the Lord will send them the same terrible disease the other nations got. 19 This will be the punishment. It will be for Egypt and any nation which does not go to celebrate the Feast of Shelters.

The first mass resurrection of people occurs before the thousand years start, when the saints are brought back to life and reign with Jesus when he returns. The rest of the dead will be resurrected at the end of the thousand years. How do these scriptures blend with traditional Chistian beliefs? Who are the rest of the dead that will be resurrected? When people are resurrected back to life after dying, how many lives will they have? Will resurrection affect their personality and why?

Revelation 20:4-5 New Living Translation
4 …They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 This is the first resurrection. (The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years had ended.)
