Lesson 15

God promised that there would come a day when everyone on the earth could learn about him. A day when he would be a father to not just Israel but to the stranger as well. The new covenant demonstrates this as the salvation of Jesus is offered to Jews and Gentiles. Following the return of Jesus and the chaining of Satan, God’s theme of using the holy days to deliver humanities salvation has Sukka representing a future time when the world is ruled by Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Those who never knew Jesus will have their chance to accept him without Satan’s influence to sin. When do you think God will fulfill his promise of everyone knowing him and his laws? Will those people have to follow God against their will? Will they be able to opt out of God’s family? Do you do things you know are not good for you?

Jeremiah 31:31-34 Living Bible
31 The day will come, says the Lord, when I will make a new contract with the people of Israel and Judah. 32 It won’t be like the one I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a contract they broke, forcing me to reject them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the new contract I will make with them: I will inscribe my laws upon their hearts, so that they shall want to honor me;* then they shall truly be my people and I will be their God. 34 At that time it will no longer be necessary to admonish one another to know the Lord. For everyone, both great and small, shall really know me then, says the Lord, and I will forgive and forget their sins.

Hebrews 8:6-13 Good News Translation
6 But now, Jesus has been given priestly work which is superior to theirs, just as the covenant which he arranged between God and his people is a better one, because it is based on promises of better things. 7 If there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would have been no need for a second one. 8 But God finds fault with his people when he says, “The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will draw up a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 9 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand and led them out of Egypt. They were not faithful to the covenant I made with them, and so I paid no attention to them. 10 Now, this is the covenant that I will make with the people of Israel in the days to come, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 None of them will have to teach their friends or tell their neighbors, ‘Know the Lord.’ For they will all know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 I will forgive their sins and will no longer remember their wrongs.” 13 By speaking of a new covenant, God has made the first one old; and anything that becomes old and worn out will soon disappear.
