Lesson 12

One of the several ways having an immortal soul at birth misleads Christians is in understanding humanity’s salvation. The immortal soul doctrine deprives those who were never in a time or location to hear about Jesus, the opportunity to do so. Its followers may point to predestination, claiming that God only draws those who he wants to Jesus and the rest of humanity simply are not chosen for salvation. They are like clay pots made for dishonor. Evangelists implore prospective Christians to believe in Jesus without saying, no one can come to Jesus if they are not drawn to him by his father. Virtually all Christians agree that having faith in Jesus is needed for salvation. They firmly believe Jesus alone opens the way to the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. All humans having an immortal soul at birth contradicts John’s teaching that Jesus is required to obtain eternal life, as immortality is synonymous with eternal life. It is imperative to understand humanity’s complete mortality to fully comprehend how and when all mankind can accept the salvation God has planned. God alone is the life giver and has promised mankind another life will come through one of his resurrections. How can those not called now come to Jesus? Are they predestined for eternal torment because they never heard of Jesus?

John 3:16 Names of God Bible
God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.

John 6:44 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to Me, and [then] I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.

Romans 8:29-30 Evangelical Heritage Version
29 because those God foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called. Those he called, he also justified. And those he justified, he also glorified.

Romans 9:21 New King James Version
21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?

2 Corinthians 1:9 New Living Translation
9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.

Acts 24:15 Common English Bible
The hope I have in God I also share with my accusers, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
