Most Christians believe Jesus will return to this world. They may vigorously disagree on the particulars of how, where and when, but most believe Jesus will return as he promised. Whether you believe in a pre-tribulation, post-tribulation, or a no tribulation at all return, it’s hard to disprove the promise to return Jesus made on several occasions, or the words of the angel who described how he would return.
Acts 1:9-11 New King James Version
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
The first time Jesus came to the world he was a helpless baby born into the lowest of circumstances. Proving himself worthy to rule the earth, Jesus will come back to reign as our rightful King. When teaching his disciples, Jesus told them some of the events that would take place when he returned and how all his followers would be assembled together.
Revelation 5:3-5 New Testament for Everyone
3 And nobody in heaven or on the earth or under the earth could open the scroll or look at it. 4 I burst into tears because it seemed that there was nobody who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside it. 5 One of the elders, however, spoke to me. ‘Don’t cry,’ he said. ‘Look! The lion from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has won the victory! He can open the scroll and its seven seals.’
Matthew 24:30-31 Good News Translation
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; and all the peoples of earth will weep as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other.
What kind of powers do you think Jesus will have? If Jesus is so powerful when he returns, why do you think humans will try to resist him? What kind of weapons will they use when trying to defeat a spirit being? Why does Jesus fight, rather than lovingly reason with humanity and talk gently?
